* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 100 AM HST.
* At 849 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the western Kona
slopes of the Big Island. A large heavy rain band continue to move
over the Kona slopes with heavy rain was falling at a rate of 1 to
3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in
drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and
other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures
expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain.

Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Honaunau, Honalo,
Kahaluu-Keauhou, Holualoa, Kalaoa, Pohakuloa Training Area, Kona

Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
