The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 100 AM HST. * At 849 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the western Kona slopes of the Big Island. A large heavy rain band continue to move over the Kona slopes with heavy rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Honaunau, Honalo, Kahaluu-Keauhou, Holualoa, Kalaoa, Pohakuloa Training Area, Kona International Airport, Milolii and Hawaii Volcanoes Park Kahuku Unit.
