Description:
* WHAT...Very cold wind chills from 15 below to 30 below zero.
Heavy snow showers may reduce visibility to 1/4 mile or less at
times.
* WHERE...Central Alaska Peninsula, Chignik, and Southern Alaska
Peninsula.
* WHEN...Until noon AKDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes.
Heavy snow showers could produce occasional whiteout conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow showers may occasionally produce
near-whiteout conditions mainly for the northern side of the
Alaska Peninsula. Sand Point and King Cove are not as likely to
see the heaviest snow and lowest visibilities.
Overall windy and snow showery conditions will persist into early
next week, but the lowest wind chills and visibilities are expected
through Saturday morning.
Instruction:
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
