Description:
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10
inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph at Atigun Pass.
* WHERE...Central Brooks Range.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 10 PM AKDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. Gusty winds could lead to
areas of blowing snow which could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An unseasonably strong arctic trough will
pass over the North Slope and Brooks Range Sunday into Monday.
Widespread light snow is expected across the Arctic Coast and
Arctic Plains, with highest totals in the Brooks Range and
Southern Arctic Plains. Winds will be strongest over Atigun Pass,
where gusts up to 30 mph are expected. Heaviest snow accumulations
are expected along the Dalton Highway from Chandalar Shelf over
Atigun Pass to Toolik Lake and Ice Cut Hill. Locally higher totals
are expected above pass level, with lighter totals down at
Anaktuvuk Pass and south of Chandalar Shelf.
