* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is expected.
* WHERE...Galena.
* WHEN...Until 1000 PM AKDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...High water may result in flooding of rivers, creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 409 PM AKDT, the ice jam at Yuki River has released. Water
and ice are moving towards Galena this evening. Impounding
water due to the ice jam is expected to cause rapid river
rises. As the front progresses towards Galena, residents
should be prepared for the possibility of an ice jam
downstream of Galena including near Bishop Rock.
- The amount of water behind the ice jam that released along
the Yukon River near the mouth of the Yuki River is higher
than 2023 levels.
