* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is occurring. * WHERE...Chatanika River upstream of road access from Murphy Dome. * WHEN...through Saturday. * IMPACTS...An ice jam on the Chatanika River is causing flooding of some cabin properties along the river. More ice is still coming from upstream so the flooding may increase before the jam releases. Several cabins had water and ice surrounding them as of 3pm on Wednesday * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 501 PM AKDT, The River Watch Team reported an ice jam on the Chatanika River upstream of the road access from Murphy Dome. Impounded water due to the ice jam is causing flooding at some properties. - http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - If you have property along the Chatanika River below the Elliott Highway stay alert and be prepared to take action.
