Description:
At 648 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Lowndesboro, or 10 miles southwest of Prattville, moving east at 40
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Montgomery, Prattville, Pike Road, Autaugaville, Lowndesboro,
Montgomery Zoo, Boylston, Hyundai Motors Of Alabama, Auburn
University In Montgomery, Autauga County Airport, Woodcrest, Maxwell
Air Force Base, Snowdoun, Waugh, Lagoon Park, Hunter, Alabama State
University, Hope Hull, Dannelly Field, and Eastdale Mall.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for central,
south central and east central Alabama.
