The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger on Wednesday. Relative humidity values will drop to 25 to 30 percent, accompanied by southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph. The combination of dry fuels, gusty southwest to west winds, and low relative humidity of about 20-30% late Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires on Wednesday. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. At 1132 AM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 13 miles southwest of Firebaugh, including along Interstate 5, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
